Another year, another Super Bowl. Another Super Bowl means new Super Bowl ads. Some might argue that the ads are more exciting than the game itself. Yesterday we covered our Top 10 Super Bowl ads of all time. Today, we are going to cover our favourite Super Bowl commercials of 2015. We could just post them all, but that would be a waster of your time. We have narrowed down this years offerings to our five favourites, and that is what we are going to share with you.
As we already covered yesterday, Super Bowl ads are expensive. Really expensive. On average, a 30 second slot goes for about 4 million dollars. For your 4 million dollars, you get a CPM rate—cost-per-mille (thousand viewers) of about $35 for 1000 views. So the expense is huge and the stakes are high. A successful Super Bowl commercial can take your company into the big leagues. Think GoDaddy. However, on the flip side, an unsuccessful commercial can cause major damage. Think SodaStream.
So what are the best ads of 2015? This is our list:
1. Budweiser: Lost Dog
We didn’t think Budweiser could possibly outdo last years commercial. We were wrong. This years commercial manages to be even cuter than last years. There is something so adorable about labrador puppies and great music. Another success from Budweiser.
2. Mercedes-Benz “Fable”
This ad is about the classic tortoise versus hare race. We have a very cocky hare that learns his lesson via a tortoise bombing down the track in the new Mercedes AMG GT. The production values are great with many modern touches on the classic old school story. These include for instance the hare taking selfies on this smart phone. This ad is fun, thrilling and full of action.
3. Mophie “All-Powerless”
Mophie makes some nice battery cases for smartphones but we never considered them to be serious players. Seeing them come from nowhere and make one of the best commercials of 2015 was a big surprise. It’s clear that a massive amount of thought (and money) has been put into this commercial. We see the world falling apart all because someone’s battery died. Who is that someone? Watch the commercial to find out.
4. Avocados From Mexico
This is the first ever Avocados from Mexico Super Bowl commercial and it’s awesome. We have each country drafting anything in the whole world directly from God himself. Mexico goes for the avocado. You really need to see this to get the full picture.
5. Middle Seat – Doritos
This is a great spin on the classic Doritos commercials. Whereas most times the guy with the Doritos gets his way, the trick backfires this time in a hilarious fashion. We have the typical free middle seat scenario on the plane. The guy does his best to control who is going to sit next to him but it doesn’t really work out.
