President Donald Trump firmly dismissed renewed questions about the Justice Department’s recent memo regarding Jeffrey Epstein during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, labeling the media’s focus on the topic as “a desecration.”
As reporters attempted to query Attorney General Pam Bondi on the memo—which states there is no verified “client list” or evidence that Epstein was murdered—Trump responded with frustration and disbelief.
“Are people really still talking about Epstein? This man has been the subject of endless speculation,” Trump said. “Meanwhile, we have serious issues unfolding in Texas. Lives are being disrupted, and people are suffering. And you’re bringing up Epstein now? That’s disgraceful.”
The president emphasized that his administration is dealing with national disasters, not conspiracy theories. “This isn’t the time for sideshows. It’s a time for solutions,” he added.
Bondi Clarifies Remarks as MAGA Base Pushes Back
Attorney General Bondi, who joined the Cabinet meeting, attempted to clarify a statement she made earlier this year that drew attention from Trump supporters. In a February TV interview, she had said the Epstein “client list” was “on her desk,” leading many to believe classified materials or hidden names were being kept secret.
“Let me be clear,” Bondi said on Tuesday, “when I mentioned the Epstein case file, I was referring to the broader documentation—thousands of pages that include everything from public records to internal memos. That statement wasn’t about a specific list of names.”
Despite her clarification, members of the conservative movement are voicing dissatisfaction. Activist Laura Loomer posted that Bondi should be removed if she doesn’t release further information, claiming the Justice Department is protecting powerful figures.
Elon Musk and Others Renew Demands for Transparency
Former Trump ally and billionaire Elon Musk reignited debate online by questioning whether the administration’s reluctance to release Epstein-related documents is undermining public trust.
“If there’s nothing to hide, why won’t they just release the files?” Musk asked on X (formerly Twitter), echoing concerns of Trump’s base.
Bondi and the White House Press Secretary have both reiterated that the administration’s Epstein files are part of a broader document review process, and nothing has been withheld improperly. Still, public pressure for transparency continues to mount.
Trump Emphasizes Current Crises, Not Past Scandals
As Texas grapples with severe flooding and emergency efforts ramp up, Trump called on the media and public to prioritize immediate needs over lingering controversies.
“We’re here talking about saving lives, rebuilding infrastructure, and bringing relief to Americans in crisis,” Trump said. “This obsession with Epstein is wasting time and distracting from real issues.”
Trump concluded the meeting by reiterating his administration’s focus: “Let’s concentrate on helping Texas, strengthening our economy, and protecting our communities. That’s what matters right now.”
Although Epstein’s name continues to circulate, Trump’s administration appears intent on pushing the topic to the background in favor of more urgent national matters.
