The Osbourne family has welcomed a new addition, and with her arrival comes a deeply sentimental tribute to one of rock music’s most iconic figures.
Jack Osbourne, son of the legendary Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, has revealed that his newborn daughter carries his late father’s name. Sharing the news on Instagram, Jack posted a heartwarming video of the baby alongside the caption, “Introducing Ozzy Matilda Osbourne.” The gesture has been widely received as a touching homage to the rock legend, who passed away in July 2025 at the age of 76 following a prolonged battle with various health conditions.
The baby girl was born on March 5, weighing 7 pounds 12 ounces, and is the second child Jack shares with his wife, Aree Gearhart. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Maple, back in July 2022. Jack also has three older children from his previous marriage to entrepreneur and author Lisa Stelly: Pearl Clementine, 13, Andy Rose, 10, and Minnie Theodora, 7.
Jack had announced the pregnancy in December 2025 and later revealed that he and Aree had managed to share the exciting news with his father before his passing, giving Ozzy the chance to learn he would become a grandfather once more. The arrival of little Ozzy Matilda has since brought a much-needed sense of hope during what has been an incredibly painful period for the entire family.
“It’s very much taken energy out of the grieving side of things and parked it in a bit more hopefulness,” Jack shared, reflecting on how the newborn has helped the family begin to heal.
The loss of Ozzy Osbourne has hit the family deeply, and they have been open about their emotional struggles in the months since. Jack’s sister, Kelly Osbourne, has faced particularly intense public scrutiny after appearing visibly thinner at several recent events. She addressed the intrusive commentary head-on in a video shared through journalist and family friend Piers Morgan, expressing clear frustration at those making insensitive remarks about her appearance. Kelly reminded her audience that she is simply a grieving daughter doing her best to cope with an enormous loss, and firmly told her online critics to back off.
Despite the weight of their grief, the family has united to celebrate Ozzy’s remarkable legacy. Jack appeared alongside Kelly and their mother, Sharon, at last month’s Grammy Awards, where a powerful tribute performance of the Black Sabbath classic “War Pigs” honoured the late rock star’s lasting impact on music history.
In a recent appearance on Jamie Kennedy’s podcast “Hate To Break It To Ya,” Jack opened up about his father’s state of mind during his final days. He recalled how Ozzy had begun referring to himself as a “retired” rock star and had found genuine peace with the life he had lived. “He was done,” Jack said quietly. “He was ok with his journey.” Those words painted the picture of a man who had arrived at a place of acceptance at the close of an extraordinary life.
Ozzy’s final public performance took place just seventeen days before his death, at the “Back to the Beginning” charity concert with Black Sabbath at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. It proved to be a fitting farewell for one of the greatest figures rock music has ever produced.
Now, through a baby girl named in his honour, his spirit carries forward into a new generation.
