It’s safe to assume that most BizzVenue readers have been on flights in the past. The first time you flew, chances are you paid attention to the in-flight safety video. If there’s even the slightest chance that your plane might plummet into the ocean, you want to know where the nearest exit is, and how to inflate your life jacket. This is all very important information that could potentially save your life.
However, after you take another few flights, you begin to gain confidence. You begin to trust the plane, the pilots and the statistics. Doing so makes sense. The year 2013 marked the lowest number of aviation fatalities since World War Two. “Just” 265 fatalities. Considering that in 2013 there was an average of 99,726 flights a day, the odds of you actually crashing are basically zero. There’s a higher chance that you’ll be killed by your iPhone than by an Airbus.
These wonderful, uplifting and reassuring statistics mean that no one pays any attention to the in flight safety videos and instructions. Time is money and we would rather send out another email before our iPad needs to be switched over to flight mode. This is likely to change though, thanks to Air New Zealand. They have just released what is easily the most epic safety video the world has ever seen. Based on the popular Hobbit franchise, inevitably there is also a hashtag to go along with it – #airnzhobbit.
We have attached a the video below. Enjoy, and a big thumbs up to Air New Zealand for being awesome – #airnzhobbit!
