You may remember that a while back we took a look at the 5 Most Successful Kickstarter Campaigns of all time. This time we decided to take a closer look at some disruptive new projects that we believe will be a big hit over the coming weeks.
1. PocketBands
Anyone who has ever gone for a jog has asked themselves, “What do I do with my house key?”. Carry it in my hand? Uncomfortable. Stash in under the doormat? Dangerous. Put in in your pocket and hope it will be there after your aggressive flat out run? That’s leaving too much up to chance.
Come in PocktBands. Such a beautifully simple solution to a real world problem.
So what is PocketBands? Pocketbands are high-quality silicone wristbands that have a pocket for stashing keys, cash and other small items. Originally created as a place to put your key while going for a jog, Pocketbands can be used for a lot more. You can use it as a holster for your fitbit chip, you can stash some money to buy a refreshing drink after your workout and of course your key.
The Pocketbands come in many sizes and colors so you’ll definitely be able to find something that fits. Head over and check out their Kickstarter campaign.
2. AwareCar
What is AwareCar? It’s the world’s first system to use context awareness in order to make your car smarter. That sounds mighty impressive but what does it actually mean? Well, put simply, AwareCar is a tiny device that uses bluetooth and micro location tracking. You throw it in your glovebox and enjoy a huge array of useful features.
1. It will help you remember where you parked whenever you leave the car. No need to open the app and manually save the location. AwareCar remembers parking level and the spot and automatically directs you back to your car.
2. The app will also remind you to enter a time when you park in a metered spot and notify you to walk back to your metered parking spot before time expires. The app also accounts for the actual time it will take you to get back to your car depending on your current location.
Those are just the current features and many more exciting plans and ideas are in the pipeline. Check out their Kickstarter page here.
3. Mojo Box
We have smartphones, smart watches, and smart homes. Now it’s time for the arrival of the smart box. Yes, a smart box. What does it do? In a nutshell, it’s a solar powered dry box with Bluetooth speakers, a flashlight and battery backup to recharge and protect devices. The spec sheet is impressive and includes Bluetooth speakers, solar powered charging, an LED light source and a large battery bank. The battery bank is able to charge and power the speakers and the users’ electronic devices. The project is currently live on Kickstarter.
4. Power Tube
Powertube is basically your typical portable charger. These have been around for years. So what’s new here? Quite a lot actually, as Powertube is far from being your typical charger. It has a massive array of features that make it the ultimate portable charger. First off, it has built in plugs so you don’t need any extra plugs or cables to make it work. Since the PowerTube also has Bluetooth built in, it can be used as a remote selfie shutter or a remote power point slide controller. Still not impressed ? Hang on. There’s more. The charger comes with an app called JuiceSync. The app will give you clear real time reports of your Power Tube activity. It will alert you when it’s draining, when it’s fully charged etc’. It also has very clever “find me” functionally that will allow you to find your phone by making it ring (as long as it’s in range). You can also use your phone to track your Powertube and it will even show you it’s last known location when you’re out of range. The only thing the Powertube doesn’t do is make breakfast. That could be something to look forward to in a future update. In the meantime, check out their Kickstarter page.
5. Kiwi 3 by PLX
OBD 2 tools have been around for ages and there is a huge variety to choose from. Anything from cheap eBay junk to expensive high end gear from the likes of APR that allow high speed data logging and even ecu map switching. Kiwi though seems to be the latest and greatest. It’s completely universal and works on any car with an OBD2 port (basically every car since 1996). Once plugged in you can enjoy the availability of a huge amount of data that is wirelessly transmitted to your smart-phone, tablet or watch! You can scan and clear codes, run logs, view gauges and so much more. This isn’t just for car nuts, it’s useful for anyone and gives you power and knowledge. Don’t get ripped off by your mechanic, scan your car for faults and use Google to do some research before heading into the shop. Head over to their Kickstarter page if this sounds interesting.
