We once said that motivation is similar to a shower. Highly effective, but the effect quickly wares off. Many of us have dreams and ideas. We get excited but quickly discard plausible ideas because we think they will be too hard to achieve. Why does this happen? Why would we throw away a great idea that has huge potential and go back to our mundane lives? It’s all thanks to the shower effect. You quickly lose motivation and that’s a big problem.
In order to be successful you need be focused. As focused as a costly prime lens on a DSLR camera. You must ignore other people’s negative opinions and stay on track no matter what. Unfortunately, maintaining this mindset is incredibly difficult. That’s why successful people are of the few and average people are can be found everywhere. What are the solutions? How can we get around this problem? Well, the best solution is probably to surround yourself with people who are better than you. Are you dreaming of starting a multi-million dollar business? Get close to someone who is motivated and focused on building a billon dollar business. Don’t join the easy crowd that will comfort you and tell you that failure is okay. Join the hard crowd that has high expectations. Expectations that are higher than your own. This takes time though. Meeting the right people can take a very long time indeed.
